David Coulthard is a British former racing driver from Scotland, now a presenter, commentator, and journalist. Nicknamed 'DC', he competed in 15 Formula 1 seasons from 1994 to 2008, achieving 13 Grand Prix victories and 62 podium finishes. He was runner-up in the 2001 championship driving for McLaren.
Coulthard began karting at eleven, progressing through the British Formula Ford Championship and Formula 3000. He debuted in Formula 1 with Williams in 1994, succeeding Ayrton Senna. In 1995, he won his first Grand Prix in Portugal before moving to McLaren in 1996. He secured two victories in 1997 and finished third in the 1998 World Drivers' Championship.
Between 1999 and 2000, Coulthard claimed five wins, and in 2001, he was the Drivers' Championship runner-up to Michael Schumacher. He added two more victories in 2002 and 2003
before leaving McLaren at the end of 2004. Joining Red Bull in 2005, Coulthard secured their first podium in 2006. He retired from Formula 1 at the end of 2008.
Since retiring, Coulthard has built a successful broadcasting career as a commentator and analyst. He is also involved in driver management and motorsport business ventures. In 2024, Coulthard continues his broadcasting role, contributing to Formula 1 coverage and motorsport commentary. He remains influential in the sport through media and his F1 ambassadorial role.
